The EPOCH 650 is a conventional ultrasonic flaw detector with excellent inspection performance and usability for a wide variety of applications. This intuitive, rugged instrument is a continuation of the popular EPOCH 600 flaw detector with additional capabilities.
The EPOCH 6LT portable ultrasonic flaw detector is optimized for one-handed operation and delivers excellent performance in rope access and high-portability applications. Lightweight with an ergonomic design, the instrument fits securely in a user’s hand or can be strapped to the leg for rope access applications.
EPOCH 1000 Series
The EPOCH 1000 is an advanced conventional ultrasonic flaw detector that can be upgraded with phased array imaging at an authorized Olympus service center. Key features include: EN12668-1 compliant, 37 digital receiver filter selections, and 6 kHz pulse repetition rate for high speed scanning.
The single group, lightweight OmniScan SX features an easy-to-read 8.4 inch (21.3 cm) touch screen and provides cost-effective solutions. The OmniScan SX comes in two models: the SX PA and SX UT. The SX PA is a 16:64PR unit, which, like the UT-only SX UT, is equipped with a conventional UT channel for P/E, P-C or TOFD inspections.
The OmniScan MX2 now features a new phased array module (PA2) with a UT channel, and a new two-channel conventional ultrasound module (UT2) that can be used for TOFD (Time-of-Flight Diffraction), as well as new software programs that expand the capabilities of the successful OmniScan MX2 platform.

This new software is the most efficient and affordable option for OmniScan data analysis, and features the same analysis tools provided in the OmniScan onboard software, with the added flexibility of running on a personal computer.
- Portable Eddy Current Flaw Detectors
Advanced portable eddy current (EC) flaw detectors inspect metallic parts and perform highly reliable flaw detection of surface and near-surface defects. A full range of portable flaw detectors is available to serve the broadest range of applications. Eddy current probes generate magnetic fields that induce current that flows in a test piece influencing the magnetic field and magnitude and phase of voltage in the coil. Applications include the detection of surface or near-surface defects, alloy sorting, and the inspection of bolt holes.
The new NORTEC 600 incorporates the latest advancements in high-performance eddy current flaw detection into a compact, durable unit. With its vibrant 5.7 inch VGA color display and true full-screen mode, the NORTEC 600 produces user-selectable, highly contrast eddy current signals.
MultiScan MS 5800 for Tube Inspection
Multi-technology system that offers eddy current, magnetic flux leakage, remote field, near field, and IRIS ultrasound technologies.
Probes for Tube Inspection
Probes for tube inspection are lightweight but solidly constructed eddy current, remote field, magnetic flux leakage, and IRIS ultrasound. These probes are used for ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic tube inspection applications.
OmniScan MX ECA/ECT
Performs eddy current array testing inspections. The test configuration supports 32 sensor coils (up to 64 with an external multiplexer) working in bridge or transmit-receive mode. The operating frequency ranges from 20 Hz to 6 MHz with the option of using multiple frequencies in the same acquisition.
Rotating Bolthole Scanners
The high performance eddy current Bolt Hole scanners are available for use with Nortec Eddy Current flaw detectors. Features include speed ranges from 600 to 3000 rpm, frequency ranges from 100 Hz to 6 MHz, multiple connector types, and multiple probe types, our scanners offer a full range of application solutions.
- UltraWave LRT
The UltraWave LRT uses guided wave technology and excites low-frequency ultrasonic waves that travel lengthwise over tens of meters along a pipe, detecting wall thickness variations. The system is ideal to screen in-service pipes and pipelines, and to inspect limited access pipes from a single inspection position. It includes advanced software, acquisition unit, touch screen laptop, and compact probes with bands and bladders.
Pipe Inspection with Guided Waves
Offering the capacity to screen in-service pipes and pipeline over long distances, guided wave inspection is used to localize areas of concern on above-ground conventional structures and for advanced applications such as buried, insulated, coated, and vertical pipes. This technology also detects corrosion at supports, clamps, and pipe racks.
Guided wave technology can perform inspections on pipes with limited access. It pinpoints locations that require further inspection, avoiding unnecessary excavation, coating removal, or scaffolding, if no flaw is detected. The use of this technology helps provide a significant reduction in operating costs and is considered an inspection solution for unpiggable pipes.
Guided wave technology is a nondestructive testing method used to locate potential degradation, such as internal or external corrosion and metal loss. While conventional UT provides localized inspection, underneath or in the vicinity of the sensor location, guided waves are able to screen the entire pipe wall, over tens of meters, from a single inspection position. Then, prove-up inspection only needs to be conducted at the specific indication position. Combined with other NDT techniques, a guided wave system will help to maximize the efficiency of a corrosion management program, without compromising data quality.

UltraWave LRT System
The UltraWave LRT system excites low-frequency ultrasonic waves that propagate in the axial direction of the pipe, from both sides of the probe collar. Various factors influence the maximum inspection distance: the pipe configuration and environment, the type of fluid inside the structure, and the type of coating. The propagated torsional waves detect general variations in the total cross-sectional area of pipe, as well as changes in the material properties.
- Bond Testing
Our complete line of bond testing (BT) flaw detectors provides unmatched capabilities for the location of discontinuities and other flaws in composite structures. We offer a wide range of measurement features and application-specific options for flaw detection. - Thickness Gages
We are the leading source of thickness gages for the accurate measurement of nearly any material. Thickness gages include a wide range of features available for enhanced gage performance. Ultrasonic thickness gages can measure virtually most materials such as plastics, metals, metal composites, rubber and internally corroded materials.
The 27MG is a basic ultrasonic thickness gage designed to make accurate measurements from one side on internally corroded or eroded metal pipes and parts. It is lightweight, durable, and ergonomically designed for easy, one-hand operation.
The 45MG is an advanced ultrasonic thickness gage packed with standard measurement features and software options. This unique instrument is compatible with the complete range of Olympus dual element and single element thickness gage transducers.
The versatile 38DL PLUS can be used with dual element transducers for the measurement of corroded pipes to the very precise thickness measurements of thin or multilayer materials with a single element transducer.

ERW In-Line: In-Line ERW Tube Inspection System
The ERW In-Line uses phased array technology to inspect weld seam and the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of electrical resistance welded (ERW) tubes. The head rotation capability allows each probe independent movement from –120 to +120 degrees for weld tracking.

Industrial Rigid Borescopes
These rigid instruments use optical lens systems to transmit an image from the inspection area back to the eye and a non-coherent fiber bundle to illuminate the object.
These external units provide illumination which is transmitted to the viewing instrument by a light guide cable, and then through the scope via the integral fiber bundle to the viewing tip.
Olympus Turning Tools (Rotators) are supported by a wide range of Engine specific adaptors. Each engine adaptor connects the OTT system to the hand turning point, or starter motor position, on the engine gearbox which allows the operator to go from basic to advanced functions.

The Power of Flexibility
Pipe elbows are susceptible to damage, such as from flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC), but inspecting them is challenging since their shape changes from convex to concave, and there are many possible pipe diameters. The FlexoFORM™ solution integrates flexible phased array probe technology in a scanner to solve these challenges. When combined with a water column, this solution can be used to collect easy-to-interpret data on elbows with diameters ranging from 4.5 in. OD up to flat and offers many benefits, including:
- 100% elbow coverage
- Intuitive 2D C-scan imaging
- High-resolution data (1 mm × 1 mm)
- Fast elbow wall thickness measurement
The scanner is used with an OmniScan® MX2 or SX instrument to detect and measure different types of damages or anomalies such as remaining wall thickness, corrosion pitting, and mid-wall lamination or inclusions. High-density data combined with the multiple views available on the flaw detector or OmniPC™ software provide clear images of the elbow’s condition and make data interpretation faster and easier.
The scan direction is encoded, and there’s an indexing button positioned directly on the scanner to perform index increments in the second axis.
Magnetic wheels keep the scanner firmly attached to the pipe, while a foam gasket is permanently in contact with the surface to keep the water column filled.
The scanner uses a water wedge that minimizes water consumption and provides easy air bubble management while enabling the scanner to conform to the elbow’s convex and concave shapes, couple to surfaces with moderate roughness, and synchronize data to the front wall.
Each wedge is contoured to fit a specific pipe diameter. Simply mount the probe and wedge assembly on the scanner, and the system is ready to use.
