SONOTEC developed the world’s first air-coupled ultrasound inspection system SONOAIR. Accordingly, this innovative testing method is suited especially for the inspection of modern composite materials as they are used in several industries such as automotive, aerospace, ship building, machine building and sports and leisure goods. Compact Ultrasonic A-/B-Scan Wall Thickness Gage

The new portable SONOWALL 70 wall thickness gage works perfectly in a wide range of ultrasonic thickness applications. Its robust aluminum housing with IP67 standard, its light-weight and high-resolution anti-glare 5“ graphic display makes SONOWALL 70 amazingly comfortable to operate – even within harsh test environments. It is the first thickness gage in the market with intelligent wireless probe identification.

During the development of the new wall thickness gage for nondestructive testing SONOTEC focused on simplifying and improving the testing procedure, excluding potential sources of error as well as providing a clearer presentation of the measurement results. This is implemented by an intuitive display menu in combination with full text menu points. The tester is able to recognize relevant measurement data and device settings such as wall thickness, A-/B-Scan and individual test parameters at first glance thanks to a wide display (800x480). An innovative “flip screen” function ensures comfortable an ambidextrous working.

Intelligent probe identification

SONOWALL 70 is the first of its kind in the market that works with intelligent probe identification. An extended probe management enables the tester to save probe specific data. For example DAC-curves, delay lines and serial numbers can be saved directly in the probe.

This device for wall thickness and multilayer measurement includes a data logger and can be upgraded to a full function flaw detector. The quick data transfer is performed via micro-SD-card or mini-USB.

Aircoupled Ultrasonic Inspection System

Compared to conventional contact nondestructive testing methods the advantage of air-coupling is that the inspection can be performed 100 % contact-free. Sensitive materials do not get exposed to couplant liquids such as water, gel or oil. In addition, complicated cleaning processes become obsolete.

The light and compact ultrasonic wall thickness gage SONOWALL 50 enables the precise measurement of the wall thickness of components made of metal, glass, ceramics and plastics. This efficient device allows the measurement of materials with both flat and curved surfaces. The wall thickness gauge enables the quick and simple detection of the first signs of wear and corrosion, for example, on ships, storage tanks, pipelines and cranes etc.

The SONOWALL 50 is characterised by its stable data readout and broad measuring range. The integrated data logger makes this user-friendly device a powerful and efficient all-rounder for practical use in numerous applications. In addition to the robust aluminium housing and the use of the highest quality components and materials, the SONOWALL 50 also has a practical ergonomic design.

The SONOSCAN probe SW 5-22 for the SONOWALL 50 has been specifically designed for the measurement of wall thicknesses of pipes with small diameters. The integrated guidance system guarantees the stable coupling at curved pipe surfaces.

Ultrasonic Flaw Detector

Co-developed by experienced material testers, the compact ultrasonic flaw detector for non-destructive testing unites high performance requirements with consistent user orientation. A clear menu structure guides the tester quickly through all necessary pre-test settings. All menu items are displayed in plain English and an overview of all probe settings contributes to increase the efficiency.

The SONOSCREEN ST10 can be used for all conventional ultrasonic tests such as weld inspections, wall thickness measurements and the detection of discontinuities, which includes invisible cracks, inclusions, voids and other discontinuities in metals, plastics, ceramics and composites.

Designed for rough applications, the ultrasonic flaw detector stands firm to extreme temperatures between -20 to 60 °C, with the large, high-resolution 8" graphic display showing all measurement results at a glance.
