About Chandan Mukhopadhyay
Dr. Chandan Kumar Mukhopadhyay is an internationally recognized expert with over 34 years of experience in materials science, non-destructive testing (NDT), and structural integrity assessment. He has made significant contributions at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in Kalpakkam, India, specializing in the deformation, fracture behavior, and failure analysis of critical materials used in the nuclear, aerospace, and petrochemical sectors.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay has pioneered research in fatigue, fracture mechanics, and advanced NDT techniques, such as acoustic emission (AE) and infrared thermography (IRT). His work has led to the development of innovative technologies for structural health monitoring, enhancing the safety and reliability of critical infrastructure.
An accomplished educator, Dr. Mukhopadhyay has taught at institutions like the University of Hyderabad and Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), guiding numerous Ph.D. and M.Tech students.
