Eddy Current Inspection for Nondestructive Testing

Course Overview:

Eddy Current testing is a highly effective nondestructive testing (NDT) method that utilizes electromagnetic induction with frequencies ranging from 10kHz to 10MHz to detect flaws in conductive materials. This comprehensive course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to perform Eddy Current inspections on various materials, including those with conductive and non-conductive coatings.

The course is designed for individuals with varying levels of NDT knowledge, catering to both beginners and those with existing NDT experience. Students have the option to qualify directly for Level 2 by completing both Level 1 and Level 2 training courses or enhancing their existing Level 1 certification. This course is PCN-approved, ensuring excellent preparation for the Level 2 examination as specified in the relevant PCN documentation.

Course Objectives:

• Upon completion of the Eddy Current Testing PCN Level 2 training course, delegates will be able to:
• Detect surface and near-surface cracks in welds using Eddy Current testing techniques.
• Identify corrosion and thinning in ferromagnetic materials through Eddy Current inspection.
• Grade and sort materials based on their conductivity and permeability properties.
• Write clear and concise inspection instructions and test reports for Eddy Current testing.
• Meet the syllabus requirements of PCN Level 2 Eddy Current Testing certification.

Course Content:

The course covers the following topics to ensure a comprehensive understanding of Eddy Current Inspection:

• Electrical properties are relevant to Eddy Current testing.
• Principles of magnetism and their application in Eddy Current inspections.
• Fundamentals of electromagnetism and its role in generating Eddy Currents.
• Eddy Current inspection equipment and its proper calibration.
• Techniques for detecting and evaluating defects using Eddy Current methods.
• Hands-on experience to develop practical skills in Eddy Current testing.
• Report and instruction writing for clear documentation of inspection findings.
• Relevant standards and guidelines for Eddy's Current inspection procedures.
• PCN documentation and compliance with certification requirements.

Pre-requisites:

To receive a BINDT Eddy Current Testing (ET/ECI) PCN Level 2 certificate, the following minimum requirements must be met:

• Training: 40 hours (direct entry to Level 2 - 80 hours)
• Work experience: 9 months (direct entry to Level 2 - 12 months)
• The training duration specified above is fulfilled by attending this training course.

Course Information:

• Duration: 10 Days (Direct entry to Level 2)

Certification:

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive the following certifications:

• Attendance of training certificate.
• BINDT PCN Level 1 certificate (valid for 5 years), issued directly by BINDT, signifying successful completion of Level 1 Eddy Current Testing.
