Position Summary:

Ranger Inspection™ is seeking an experienced and highly skilled API 653 Inspector to join their team. This position will be responsible for leading and facilitating the safe and efficient delivery of API 510, 570, and 653 inspection services for aboveground storage tanks, pressure vessels, and piping. Under the direction of the General Manager, the API 653 Inspector will ensure that inspections are conducted in compliance with industry standards, deliver accurate documentation, and oversee field operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing high-quality services in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that safety procedures are strictly followed.
  • Conduct all inspections in accordance with API 653 and other relevant standards.
  • Document inspection activities in detail, adhering to both company and customer guidelines.
  • Recommend repairs and perform inspections on completed repair work when applicable.
  • Manage and maintain professional communication with clients, co-workers, and office personnel.
  • Oversee and direct field crews to efficiently complete projects on time and within scope.
  • Make prompt decisions on the job to ensure successful completion of inspections and projects.
  • Complete all required training in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of field inspection experience, specifically with aboveground storage tanks and pressure vessels.
  • API 653 Certification is required.
  • Proficient in managing customer relationships and maintaining professional communication.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75% of the time, often with little notice, including overnight and air travel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass background and drug testing, including ongoing random drug testing.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport and TWIC card.
  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge and experience in tank strapping.
  • Certified or knowledgeable in performing various NDE methods including MT, VT, MFL, PT, and others as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and direct field crews effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in documenting and interpreting inspection results.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions during field inspections.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to a shop environment, including lifting material and products up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent work from kneeling or all-fours positions.
  • Regular work in confined spaces and outdoor settings, exposed to varying weather conditions.
  • Must have adequate vision, with corrective eyewear if necessary, and be able to distinguish colors.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders.
  • Availability for on-call duties during nonstandard working hours.
  • Ability to pass a Pulmonary Fit Test if required.
  • Heavy travel schedule, estimated at 75%.
