Position Summary:
Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Inspector to oversee the quality assurance process at a fabrication facility on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client. The successful candidate will also perform on-site inspections during the construction phase. This role requires significant knowledge of the American Welding Society (AWS) codes and hands-on experience in a similar position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all services are performed according to project specifications and contract requirements while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the Project Manager to determine specific requirements for each work order, including scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
- Liaise with the Project Manager, fabrication shops, contractors, and third parties to address and resolve scheduling issues.
- Ensure services provided meet the project requirements and the terms of the contract with the client.
- Generate and process timesheets, billing reports, and inspection reports, adhering to deadlines and ensuring all reports are submitted in an efficient and thorough manner. Reports must be prepared using Microsoft Word/Adobe Acrobat and transmitted electronically to the Project Manager.
- Maintain proactive communication regarding upcoming assignments and potential work that Bureau Veritas could perform, keeping the fabrication facility informed.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships between Bureau Veritas, the fabrication facility, and the client.
- Work remotely from established Bureau Veritas offices when necessary.
- Focus on client satisfaction by understanding and fulfilling client needs and requirements.
- Ensure adherence to quality control and quality assurance processes, with the ability to understand and interpret complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
- Exhibit excellent communication and documentation skills, ensuring that technical issues are conveyed clearly to clients, the Project Manager, and the fabrication facility.
- Proficient use of modern communication tools and computer equipment such as cell phones, laptops, and digital cameras.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising the quality or efficiency of work.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, field staff, other Bureau Veritas offices, and the global Bureau Veritas network.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an inspector with strong knowledge of AWS codes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to the quality control and quality assurance process.
- Ability to read and understand complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Lotus Notes is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Client-focused approach, with a strong emphasis on understanding and meeting client needs.
- Proficient use of communication and computer equipment, including cell phones, laptop computers, and digital cameras.
Qualifications:
- Certified Welding Inspector (American Welding Society) or CWB certification (acceptable).
- NDT Level II certification is a plus.
- AMPP/NACE Level II certification is a plus.
