Position Summary:

The NDT Technician is responsible for conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections to assess the integrity of materials and components in various industrial settings. This role requires adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements while ensuring accurate reporting and documentation of inspection activities. The technician will work closely with senior personnel, assist in training apprentice-level team members, and strive to maintain and advance NDT certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards, legal regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform all assigned duties while upholding the company’s Core Values and critical work practices.
  • Assist the Senior Technician and provide guidance to apprentice-level personnel on-site.
  • Gain hands-on experience in various NDT methods while studying for certifications.
  • Execute tasks as directed by the Senior Technician.
  • Supervise apprentice-level personnel on the job as needed.
  • Maintain NDT certification and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct NDT inspections based on acquired certifications.
  • Interpret and document inspection results while maintaining proper records of inspection activities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with computerized equipment.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least two methods.
  • Previous certification to Level II in at least one NDT method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred.
  • Ability to handle chemicals safely and follow strict safety protocols.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with precision.
  • Willingness to travel as required (0-75%).

Work Conditions:

  • Position is based out of a branch or site location.
  • Field duties involve both indoor and outdoor work in plant environments.
  • Frequent interaction with crew members, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Exposure to extreme noise levels in production environments.
  • Must wear safety equipment as mandated by company and regulatory guidelines.
  • May work at multiple job sites in a day, requiring adaptability to different climate conditions.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and climb, except when performing non-field duties.
  • Adequate speech and hearing abilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision, with or without accommodations, to conduct inspections.
  • Manual dexterity to perform essential office and field duties.
  • Personal mobility and reflexes necessary to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including climbing ladders and stairwells.
  • Ability to maintain focus, multitask efficiently, and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
