Level II NDT Technician

Position Summary: 

TEAM Industrial Services, Inc. is seeking a Level II NDT Technician to join their team. The technician will be responsible for performing independent inspections using various nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques and detecting corrosion, defects, or any detrimental conditions in accordance with written criteria. The technician will interpret and report inspection results, maintaining thorough documentation and communicating procedures and findings to clients. This role provides opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience in various NDT methods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform NDT inspections using a range of methods (e.g., PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) to identify defects, corrosion, or other detrimental conditions in materials.
• Adhere to company and customer safety standards and practices to maintain a secure work environment.
• Interpret and report results of inspections, ensuring clear and accurate documentation of all inspection activities.
• Assist the Senior Technician and mentor apprentice-level personnel, providing on-the-job guidance and training.
• Maintain NDT certifications and work towards gaining additional certifications as needed.
• Perform supervisory duties over apprentice-level personnel as required on the job site.
• Ensure the safe handling of chemicals and hazardous materials as per company guidelines.
• Work with clients to communicate inspection results and procedural steps, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Support the continued development of hands-on NDT skills while pursuing additional NDT certifications.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Understanding of basic mathematics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and the ability to work with computers and computerized equipment.
• Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least 2 methods.
• Previous Certification to Level II in at least one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred.
• Travel requirement: 0-75%.
• Ability to handle chemicals and other hazardous materials in a safe and compliant manner.
• Strong ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.

Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to walk and climb, except when performing non-field duties.
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Visual acuity and observation skills sufficient to carry out investigations and inspections.
• Manual dexterity for performing office duties and field tasks.
• Mobility to maneuver within a plant or refinery environment, including the ability to climb ladders and stairwells.
• Ability to work in varied conditions, including plant atmospheres with extreme noise and potential exposure to climate changes.
• Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions:

• Position is based at a branch or site location with field duties requiring both indoor and outdoor work in plant settings.
• The job involves interaction with fellow crew members, supervisors, and client personnel.
• Work is conducted around production machinery, often in high-noise environments.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the safety department.
• Occasional travel to multiple job sites per day and periodic out-of-town travel may be required.
