Position Summary:

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician at TEAM Industrial Services will independently perform inspections utilizing various NDT techniques to detect corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions according to specific written criteria. The Technician will interpret and report the results of inspections, ensuring all work is done in compliance with company and customer safety standards. The role requires effective communication with customers and colleagues to convey procedures, results, and findings, while maintaining NDT certifications and supporting apprentices in their professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company and customer safety standards and practices, maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy working environment.
  • Perform all assigned duties while upholding TEAM's Core Values and Seven Critical Choices.
  • Assist senior technicians and guide apprentice-level personnel on the job.
  • Support apprentice development by sharing hands-on NDT experience and knowledge.
  • Complete NDT inspections in the field in accordance with certifications held, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Interpret and report inspection results, ensuring proper documentation of all activities.
  • Ensure personal NDT certifications remain valid and up to date.
  • Supervise apprentice personnel on job sites, providing guidance and instruction as needed.
  • Handle chemicals safely according to safety protocols.
  • Travel as required for field inspections, with the potential for up to 75% travel.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, and climbing during field inspections.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of math and ability to perform measurements and calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and ability to work with computers and computerized equipment.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician, with proficiency in at least 2 methods.
  • Previous Certification to Level II in at least one NDT method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals and follow instructions as provided.
  • Willingness and ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, in plant atmospheres.
  • Ability to work with production machinery and tolerate high noise levels in fieldwork settings.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment for personal protection.
  • Must be able to work in various job sites and tolerate changes in climate and environment.
  • Occasional travel out of town may be required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and climb ladders or stairs as needed.
  • Ability to maintain focus, multitask, and communicate effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in at least two NDT methods, with preference for Level II Certification in PT, MT, UT, RT, or ET.
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in the NDT field as a certified technician.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and inspection results clearly and accurately.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor junior personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills for both reporting and customer interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions in a structured manner.
  • Physical capability to handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, walking, climbing, and working in various environments.
