NDT Technician Assistant

Position Summary: 

PROtect LLC is seeking a NDT Technician Assistant to assist NDT Technicians in conducting inspections of structures, pipelines, and other components and materials using various non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as x-ray, ultrasound, and other related equipment. The NDT Technician Assistant will support the team by preparing equipment, performing tests, identifying defects, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the setup and operation of equipment used for non-destructive testing of materials and components in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Assist with various NDT inspection methods, including gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, leak testing, and visual inspections.
• Support the NDT Technician in selecting, preparing, loading, calibrating, and operating testing equipment.
• Help identify defects in materials by applying proper NDT examination techniques.
• Maintain safety standards and ensure the safety of the entire team during the testing process.
• Drive company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.
• Participate in training opportunities to learn new tasks and assist Lead Technicians in the field.
• Follow instructions and ensure that safety protocols are observed at all times.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of NDT techniques preferred.
• Some prior work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in the NDT field is preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability through PROtect LLC’s insurance carrier.
• State NDT certification or training is preferred (but not mandatory).

Requirements:

• Strong work ethic with the ability to work demanding and flexible hours, including long shifts (up to 16 hours) and on short notice.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on rough or uneven terrain, and occasionally exert maximum muscle force (up to 150 pounds with assistance).
• Comfortable with physical demands including climbing, working at heights, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot and cold) and in confined spaces.
• Visual acuity to perform inspections and work safely around hazards, including moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and chemicals.
• Must meet weight restrictions to ensure safety when utilizing safety harnesses.
• Professional appearance and conduct, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and arrive punctually to assignments.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow specific instructions.
