Position Summary:
Oceaneering is seeking a highly skilled Offshore Inspection Coordinator to serve as the primary focal point for offshore inspection activities. This role involves coordinating and overseeing all inspection operations to ensure compliance with Oceaneering and client codes of practice, strategies, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inspection schedules, supervising offshore personnel, and ensuring that all plant and equipment certifications are up to date.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the main offshore focal point for all inspection-related activities, ensuring seamless coordination between inspection teams, offshore personnel, and the client.
- Provide direct support to the Delivery Manager and Senior Inspection Engineer (SIE) in fulfilling contractual work scopes.
- Report functionally to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) for the organization and execution of inspection services.
- Work closely with platform personnel to ensure proper scheduling, planning, and availability of equipment for inspection.
- Assist in strategy reviews and inspection program development, contributing to detailed plans, work scopes, and pre-surveys.
- Conduct offshore inspections as authorized under the Oceaneering Letter of Authority (LOA), ensuring timely execution as per the schedule.
- Supervise Oceaneering personnel and third-party contractors offshore, ensuring work scope comprehension, risk mitigation, and adherence to job specifications.
- Conduct briefings and Toolbox Talks for all Inspection/NDT personnel before executing tasks.
- Prepare and issue inspection reports, ensuring they comply with Oceaneering and client templates and include observations, NDT results, and remedial recommendations.
- Update relevant inspection databases (e.g., ACET) and maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP) with inspection activities.
- Review and sign off on inspection reports submitted by NDT technicians or third parties.
- Assess defects and anomalies, ensuring they follow Oceaneering and client procedures (e.g., IQ/RO process) and provide recommendations for remedial actions.
- Oversee and inspect any necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Participate in key offshore meetings, planning sessions, and risk assessments, including shutdowns, safety meetings, and hazard risk reviews.
- Maintain inspection logs, registers, and documentation in line with Oceaneering/client procedures.
- Provide support during audits (e.g., verification, internal, and client audits) as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee offshore inspection personnel and third-party contractors.
- Conduct on-the-job training, task assignments, and performance appraisals.
- Assist the Project Manager in rewarding, disciplining, and addressing personnel concerns to ensure smooth offshore operations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in plant and equipment inspection.
- Strong technical knowledge of visual inspection methods, inspection planning, maintenance management systems (MMS), and anomaly management.
- Understanding of legislation, industry codes/standards, materials science, plant operations, corrosion mechanisms, coatings, and conventional & advanced NDT techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard inspection software/databases (e.g., ACET, Maximo, SAP).
- Experience in construction and fabrication inspection is preferred.
- Familiarity with Risk-Based Assessments (RBA) and Written Schemes of Examination (WSEs) is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate teams and manage client relationships.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and interpret engineering designs, metallurgical reports, and welding codes.
Qualifications:
Category 3 Requirements:
- ONC in Mechanical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 (City & Guilds or equivalent) (Essential).
- Alternative qualifications such as ONC in Fabrication & Welding may be considered with relevant experience.
- EngTech certification through a recognized engineering institute (IMarEST, Plant Inspector/Society of Operations Engineering, or equivalent) is preferred.
Category 2 Requirements:
- Minimum HNC or NVQ Level 4 in a relevant engineering or physics discipline (Essential).
- Alternative qualifications such as HNC in Fabrication & Welding may be considered with additional certifications.
- IEng certification through a recognized engineering institute (IMarEST, Plant Inspector/Society of Operations Engineering, or equivalent) (Essential).
- ASME or CSWIP Plant Inspector Level 1 & 2 certification is preferred.
- API 570 & 510 certification may be required for specific contracts.
- NDT certification in core techniques may be required depending on client specifications.
- Valid Offshore Medical, Annual Eye Test, BOSIET & MIST certifications (Essential).
- Confined Space Entry training (Essential).
