Position Summary:
PROtect, LLC is seeking an NDT Technician Assistant to support NDT Technicians in performing inspections of structures, pipelines, and other components using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as x-ray, ultrasound, and related equipment. The ideal candidate will assist in the setup and execution of various NDT inspections and learn from experienced technicians to expand their skills in the field. This position requires a strong work ethic, willingness to work flexible schedules, and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure safety and quality during inspections.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup and operation of equipment used for non-destructive testing of components and materials according to applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Assist in conducting NDT inspections including gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing, and visual inspections.
- Prepare, load, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment to identify defects in materials.
- Support technicians in performing NDT examination techniques and identifying defects in materials.
- Drive company vehicles, ensuring safe driving practices and maintaining a clean driving record.
- Train under the guidance of lead technicians to learn new tasks and gain hands-on experience in the field.
- Follow instructions and safety protocols to ensure the safety of the entire team.
- Perform general cleaning and minor maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain shop areas in a clean, orderly, and functional condition.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or lead technician.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with insurability through PROtect, LLC's insurance carrier.
- State card certification is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge and understanding of basic tools and equipment.
- Willingness to follow safety regulations, policies, and procedures in the workplace.
- Ability to work long hours, including up to 16-hour days, and respond to call-outs on short notice.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Physical stamina to work in various environments, including extreme cold and heat, and to perform tasks such as climbing, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct while interacting with customers.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow specific instructions.
Qualifications:
- Some previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience are preferred.
- State certification in NDT is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, follow instructions, and contribute to the success of inspections.
