Position Summary:
Applus+ is seeking an NAS410 Certified NDT UT Level 2 Technician to join their team at the Bensalem, PA location. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting composites, with a preference for those with knowledge of automated UT systems. This position requires the technician to be well-versed in aerospace inspection requirements and possess the skills to provide on-the-job training (OJT) to trainees. The NDT Level 2 Technician will be responsible for organizing and reporting the results of NDT tests, ensuring compliance with all relevant procedures and customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and maintain written quality requirements associated with Arcadia procedure manuals and customer specifications.
- Establish work instructions and technical data sheets for the set-up and processing of inspection programs, submitting data to Level III for approval.
- Accept or reject customer products based on established standards and record and report specific inspection data.
- Interpret and implement customer specifications and standards.
- Assist in training and qualifying trainees and Level I personnel through OJT as defined by Level III.
- Expand knowledge of applicable NDT methods and work towards certification for additional NDT methods.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and practices at all times.
- Participate in maintaining the KAIZEN 6S discipline: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety.
- Utilize material handling equipment and follow safety protocols during operations.
Requirements:
- Ability to utilize mathematical formulas and interpret technical documents related to the applicable NDT methods.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and assist in the training of others.
- Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed.
- Willingness to cross-train in other NDT methods if required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in environments with high noise levels and exposure to mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, and extreme weather conditions.
Qualifications:
- Certification as NDT UT Level 2 (or certifiable to Level 2 as per NAS 410 requirements).
- Previous experience or the ability to gain certification through additional formal training (80 hours of UT training and 800 hours of on-the-job experience).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
