Adaptix Ltd, a leading innovator in low-power 3D X-ray imaging technology, has announced a distribution agreement with The Sempre Group, a renowned provider of metrology solutions, to supply its award-winning NDT3D imaging technology in the UK and Ireland. This partnership aims to bring groundbreaking advancements in non-destructive testing (NDT) to a broader audience across critical industries.

The Adaptix NDT3D system represents a significant leap in X-ray imaging, offering faster and more precise testing than traditional methods. Capable of delivering results in minutes, it is designed to inspect a wide range of components, including traditional, composite, and additive-manufactured aerospace parts, batteries, and electronics. Its ability to detect voids, inclusions, and weave variations in complex structures makes it invaluable for early-stage inspections, reducing waste, manufacturing time, and inspection costs.

“As the industry shifts towards lightweight components, our partnership with Sempre ensures that Adaptix NDT3D technology reaches those who need it most,” said Martin Holden, Development Engineering Manager for NDT at Adaptix. “This tool is pivotal in supporting manufacturing efficiency while maintaining the integrity of traditional and advanced materials.”

The NDT3D technology has gained significant recognition, recently winning the Aerospace Technology Institute’s Emerging Technology Award for its role in advancing sustainability and supporting the journey to Net Zero 2050. Originally developed for the medical sector, the mobile NDT3D system offers CT-equivalent results while minimizing X-ray power requirements and operational disruption.

Sarah Small, CEO of Adaptix, commented, “This partnership with Sempre marks the perfect moment to expand our reach in the UK and Ireland. With our technology now capable of inspecting both small and large aerospace parts, including critical components like wing parts and doors, we are positioned to revolutionize in situ NDT processes.”

Jim Mangan, Managing Director of Sempre, added, “We are proud to bring Adaptix’s game-changing NDT3D technology to the market. Its innovative approach aligns perfectly with the needs of industries striving for Net Zero by enhancing operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.”

Supported by the Aerospace Technology Institute, the National Composites Centre, and the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme, Adaptix’s NDT3D technology offers a versatile, mobile solution with reduced scan times and exclusion zones, making it ideal for busy hangar environments.
