Flyability, the creators of the confined space drone Elios 3, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Innovation Endorsement certification by ClassNK, a leading Japanese classification society. This formal certification recognizes new, innovative technologies in the maritime sector, and the Elios 3 drone, along with its ultrasonic thickness measurement (UT) payload, is the first drone to receive this recognition.
ClassNK, or Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, is a renowned classification society providing services related to the safety and environmental protection of ships, offshore structures, and maritime vessels. As a key regulatory body in maritime operations, ClassNK certifications are meticulously awarded to solutions and technologies that demonstrate safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The certification of the Elios 3 UT is a significant acknowledgment of the value this drone brings to the maritime sector, particularly in enhancing safety and enabling efficient data collection for critical inspections.
“The Elios 3 and its ultrasonic thickness measurement payload is setting a new standard in the maritime sector. The Innovation Endorsement certification from ClassNK not only validates its safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance but also highlights the transformative role of drones in enhancing inspection capabilities and improving safety in confined spaces,” said Wataru Wakatsuki, Flyability Country Manager for Japan.
The Innovation Endorsement certification for the Elios 3 UT falls under the products and solutions category, further demonstrating that regulatory bodies recognize this remote inspection technology as a reliable, tested solution. With the Elios 3 UT gaining increasing presence in the maritime sector, this certification underscores the drone's effectiveness and the growing role of drones in improving operational efficiency and safety.
Flyability will showcase the Elios 3 and its UT payload at the Bari-Ship Imabari Maritime Fair 2025, held from May 22-24 at Imabari in Ehime, Japan. Visitors can find Flyability’s booth, BC-48, to learn more about the drone’s capabilities. In Japan, Blue Innovation serves as Flyability’s official partner, offering localized services and support, making the Elios 3 widely accessible to industries across Japan for inspections, data collection, and enhanced safety.
