Inductosense, a leading innovator in ultrasonic sensor technology, is pleased to announce the launch of its latest development in the WAND product range: a wall thickness monitoring sensor capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 180°C. This sensor is the result of an intensive three-year research and development effort and extends the range of applications for Inductosense customers.
The thin-profile WAND sensors are battery-free, require zero maintenance, and are embeddable underneath the coating, insulation, and composite repairs. The WAND sensors can now be installed in higher temperature locations allowing for repeatable wall thickness data to be easily acquired from high-risk locations with minimal risk to personnel while saving the customer time and money.
Dr Cheng-Huan Zhong (Bamboo), CTO and Co-Founder of Inductosense, said, "Based on feedback from our customers and partners there was a clear requirement for a thickness monitoring sensor that can operate at higher temperatures, particularly in refinery applications. Our team has dedicated years of hard work, research, and development to bring this groundbreaking technology to the market. This new sensor is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of ultrasonic sensor innovation and addressing the unique needs of our customers in demanding industries."
The new sensors are ATEX-approved for zone 0 use. Dr. Stefano Cuomo, who has led the project for the past 2 years, said “The ATEX certification is vital for our customers. It attests that our product is not going to generate any source of heat or Ignition within the temperature class it is certified to.”
