Kobelco Compressors America, Inc. (KCA) has begun the expansion of its Houston Service Shop (HSS), adding 33,000 square feet to enhance its service capabilities. The expanded facility will support KCA’s growing repair business and better serve customers locally and globally.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Peter Venizelos, Head of KCA’s After Market and Service Engineering division, who highlighted the importance of the expansion. "This addition reflects the dedication of our team and enables us to offer expanded services and capabilities," said Venizelos.
The upgrade includes six compressor overhaul stations, drive-through loading bays, a specialized extruder overhaul station, and dedicated areas for hydro blasting, non-destructive testing (NDT), and painting. The expansion also introduces climate-controlled storage, additional customer working areas, and new 30-ton and 50-ton cranes to support increased operational demands.
La Porte Mayor Rick Helton praised Kobelco’s contributions to the local community, emphasizing the positive impact of the facility. "We’re grateful to Kobelco for choosing La Porte and for the tremendous work they’re doing here," he said.
KCA’s President, Terry Murata, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the City of La Porte, emphasizing the importance of the expansion to KCA’s global operations.
The expanded Houston Service Shop will provide comprehensive technical support, spare parts, field services, and repair solutions for Kobelco and non-Kobelco screw compressors, reinforcing KCA’s commitment to delivering high-quality aftermarket services worldwide.
