Ruckus Composites and Ruckus Aerospace are ringing in the new year with significant technology upgrades aimed at expanding their precision machining, measurement, and ultrasound inspection capabilities. These investments are designed to bolster the companies' in-house manufacturing and quality control capabilities for composites repair, aerospace inspection, and high-performance part production.

Ruckus Composites, known for its composites repair and manufacturing for the cycling industry, and Ruckus Aerospace, which provides high-tech nondestructive inspection and precision engineering services for aerospace and industrial applications, are poised to meet the growing demand for advanced composite inspection and precision machining with the latest additions to their operations.

The newly added technologies include:

  • Immersion phased array ultrasound three-axis XYZ scanner: This high-resolution scanner detects barely visible impact damage (BVID) and internal defects in composite structures, improving the quality of inspection.
  • Immersion phased array ultrasound tube scanner: A specialized tool designed for inspecting cylindrical composite components, ensuring flawless structural integrity.
  • Hurco Vmone vertical machining center (VMC): A CNC milling solution that enhances rapid prototyping and precision component manufacturing.
  • Prototrak Toolroom CNC lathe: This addition further enhances Ruckus’ ability to produce custom parts with tight tolerances.
  • Faro arm coordinate measuring machine (CMM): A state-of-the-art metrology tool that ensures precision and accuracy in the company’s inspection processes, ensuring every part meets the highest standards.

By bringing these tools in-house, Ruckus Composites and Ruckus Aerospace can streamline their repair and manufacturing processes, reducing lead times and improving turnaround. The expanded inspection capabilities will also enhance the companies' nondestructive evaluation (NDE) services, providing increased precision. These upgrades will allow Ruckus to support more complex projects, from aerospace structural health monitoring to the refinement of high-performance cycling components.
