Scottish Sensor Tech Startup Novosound Eyes APAC Expansion

Novosound's Ceilidh system is a wide-area corrosion monitoring system. It helps industrial groups improve asset efficiency and safety. This system will be showcased at the 20th World Conference for Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT) in Incheon, South Korea, from May 27-31. CEO Dave Hughes plans to meet with top tech and electronics groups in South Korea. During the visit, he will present the company's wearable ultrasonic health system, the Slanj. The company aims to establish partnerships and explore opportunities for expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Novosound's innovative technology has already gained recognition in Europe and North America, and now they are looking to make a mark in APAC.

Novosound’s Ceilidh system is a patented corrosion monitoring solution. It addresses industry challenges like corrosion under composite wraps. The Korean Society for Nondestructive Testing (KSNT), which is hosting the WCNDT event, will display the system. Recent wins with global energy firms in the Middle East and North America have prompted Novosound to expand into the APAC region. They have also secured contracts with Atom Group (Greece), Uniper (UK), BAE Systems (UK), and GE Aviation (USA). Dave Hughes, CEO and Founder, said, "The Ceilidh system is a major breakthrough in non-destructive testing. It's designed for industries where corrosion monitoring is critical."

Hughes will meet South Korea’s leading tech and electronics groups. He will also showcase the Slanj system, which uses wireless wearable ultrasound technology. This platform is being tested with healthcare partners in the USA and Europe. It can monitor biometrics like blood pressure and dehydration more effectively than optical, magnetic, or electrical sensors. Hughes added, "We are excited about potential collaborations in the industrial and digital health sectors during our South Korea visit. Hughes expressed confidence in the Slanj system's ability to revolutionise the healthcare industry and improve patient outcomes. He emphasized the importance of forging partnerships with South Korean companies to further develop and commercialize this cutting-edge technology.
