Two exceptional students from St. Ignatius High School have been selected to participate in a prestigious educational field trip and training program in North Carolina, USA. Organized in collaboration with the STEM U Foundation, the program will take place from February 17 to 26, 2025, and will provide invaluable hands-on experience in welding and non-destructive testing (NDT).
The STEM U Foundation of the USA has awarded this opportunity to the top-performing 4th form welding and NDT students, Silsa Perez and Flevian Strand, in recognition of their exemplary skills, dedication, and outstanding academic achievements. Their selection highlights the emphasis St. Ignatius High School places on excellence in STEM education and its commitment to equipping students with industry-relevant skills.
“This is a testament to their hard work and the quality of STEM education we strive to provide. We believe this initiative represents a significant achievement for our students and a testament to the power of STEM education in Belize,” St. Ignatius noted.
The two-week training program is designed to enhance the students’ technical expertise through practical exposure to advanced welding and NDT methodologies. The initiative aligns seamlessly with St. Ignatius High School’s curriculum, providing participants with an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting while gaining insights from industry experts.
By fostering international collaborations and hands-on learning opportunities, St. Ignatius High School and the STEM U Foundation continue to pave the way for young talent to excel in STEM fields. This initiative is expected to inspire future students to pursue excellence and innovation in technical education.
