Teledyne FLIR Unveils FLIR E8 Pro: Enhanced Thermography Inspection Solution with Cloud Connectivity
Teledyne FLIR has recently introduced the FLIR E8 Pro, an upgraded version of its popular E8 series thermal cameras. This new model boasts a larger 3.5-inch touchscreen and incorporates FLIR Ignite Cloud connectivity, all while maintaining the familiar pistol-grip form factor of its predecessor. The expanded touchscreen allows users to effortlessly share captured images with colleagues, partners, and clients over Wi-Fi. Moreover, on-screen annotations can be added to highlight specific findings, enhancing collaboration and communication. The captured images can be conveniently loaded onto the FLIR Ignite Cloud, streamlining workflow and boosting overall efficiency.
Rob Milner, the Global Business Development Director at Teledyne FLIR, emphasized the importance of user-friendly, cloud-connected handheld thermal cameras for thermography inspectors involved in predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs. He described the FLIR E8 Pro as the perfect solution, featuring a larger touchscreen with an improved 640 × 480 screen resolution. Additionally, the integration of FLIR Ignite cloud connectivity enables instant documentation, offering inspectors a superior handheld thermal imaging camera that expedites their tasks with ease.
The FLIR E8 Pro delivers sharp thermal and visual details at an affordable price by combining a 5 MP digital camera with a robust thermal camera, leveraging FLIR's patented Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX) capability. MSX overlays edge details from the visible camera onto the thermal image, resulting in significantly enhanced detail and contextual awareness, without compromising any thermal data. This tool also includes a built-in LED lamp that enables the capture of critical details via MSX in low-light scenarios, thereby improving decision support.
When connected to Wi-Fi, the FLIR E8 Pro seamlessly synchronizes with the FLIR Ignite application, accessible from mobile devices, web browsers, or desktops. This eliminates the need to carry additional USB flash drives, storage cards, or cables. Images and videos shared through FLIR Ignite can be easily accessed using the FLIR Thermal Studio software, enabling instant review, editing, analysis, and reporting of findings by inspectors, colleagues, and clients.
The FLIR E8 Pro is built to withstand demanding industrial and outdoor environments, being drop-tested up to two meters (6.5 ft). Its ruggedized design includes a 25G-shock and 2G vibration test rating, along with built-in lens protection. With up to 4 hours of continuous operation on a single battery, which can be quickly swapped out and recharged, the FLIR E8 Pro ensures all-day usability, even in the field.
