Voliro, a pioneer in aerial mobile robotics, has raised $12 million in Series A funding to accelerate its mission of transforming industrial inspections, maintenance, and repair work at height. The funding round was led by Cherry Ventures, with additional backing from existing business angels, family offices, and a conventional debt facility, bringing Voliro’s total capital raised to $22 million.
Founded in 2019, Voliro has rapidly emerged as a leader in developing advanced aerial robots designed to perform precision tasks in challenging environments. The company's first product, launched in November 2022, features a groundbreaking tiltable rotor system, enabling the drones to interact with surfaces at any angle. This innovation is particularly valuable for industries where safety, efficiency, and precision are critical.
"Industrial inspections at height are traditionally dangerous, expensive, and time-consuming," said Timo Müller, COO and co-founder of Voliro. "With our aerial robotics technology, we are eliminating the need for human exposure to hazardous conditions while making the process more cost-effective and efficient. This new funding will allow us to further expand our offerings and bring our technology to a wider range of industries worldwide."
Voliro’s aerial robots are already being utilized by leading industry players, including Chevron, Holcim, Acuren, and Osprey Integrity, to perform critical inspections and maintenance tasks on hard-to-reach industrial assets such as flare stacks, wind turbines, and sloped surfaces. The drones, capable of conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) and other contact-based inspections, are recognized for their precision even in challenging conditions such as high winds.
"We’ve been able to save our customers significant time and money using Voliro’s technology," said Danny Landry, General Manager and Drone SME at Acuren. "Their drones allow us to perform inspections much faster than traditional methods like scaffolding, while also reducing our safety risks."
Voliro’s innovative approach addresses a significant need in industrial sectors, where traditional inspection methods often require scaffolding, rope access, and large workforces, exposing personnel to dangerous conditions. By automating these tasks, Voliro’s drones not only enhance safety but also streamline operations, offering a faster, more cost-efficient solution to critical industrial inspections.
With this new funding, Voliro aims to expand its product portfolio and scale its presence globally, continuing to reshape the landscape of industrial maintenance and inspection through cutting-edge aerial robotics.
