CRTS Global LLC has announced the acquisition of RAE Energy’s coatings business, marking a significant investment that strengthens CRTS’ leadership in the global pipeline coatings market. This acquisition establishes CRTS as the only provider delivering complete internal and external pipeline field joint coating solutions for the offshore sector.
CRTS, a portfolio company of Voyager Interests, a Houston-based private equity firm, is a recognized leader in internal robotic field joint coating services for onshore and offshore pipelines in natural gas, crude oil, potable water, salt water, hydrogen, and carbon capture sectors. Having completed coating services on more than three million field joints, CRTS operates over five hundred coating machines providing services worldwide.
RAE Coatings is a technological leader in the application of protective external coatings for offshore pipelines, offering proprietary solutions for key offshore markets such as Brazil, Guyana, the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, the North Sea, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The acquisition significantly enhances CRTS’ external field joint coating capabilities, allowing the company to deliver a comprehensive suite of services to pipeline and spool base customers globally. These services include IMPP, EMPU, PUF, flame spray PP/PE, patented rapid 3LPP/3LPE WehoCoat, and specialized custom coatings.
“RAE Coatings’ global presence, proprietary technologies and seasoned, specialized workforce will enable us to provide a more complete, efficient corrosion resistance solution in support of customer projects worldwide,” said Bryan Kirchmer, President of CRTS. “CRTS has been advancing field joint coating technology for more than 40 years, and we are proud to be the pioneers of untethered remote-operated robotic coating machines for internal pipeline coating applications. This acquisition now positions us better than ever to serve our customers across a broader set of services and across more geographies.”
RAE Energy has completed the sale of RAE Coatings as part of its strategic decision to focus on expanding its nondestructive testing capabilities through Prime Inspections and UT Quality.
This acquisition positions CRTS Global as a comprehensive provider in the pipeline coating sector, expanding its service offerings and geographic reach to better meet the evolving demands of the global energy and infrastructure markets.
